Playing maths games relaxes younger children so that they can concentrate on the maths without getting stressed. And who doesn't love a mammoth?
Once you've waded through your GCSE text book questions, it's a good idea to have a go at practice exam papers in a quiet room with a timer (and lots of sweets to keep you going!).
Asking younger children to check their work using a calculator can be really exciting for them and gives them a feeling of control over their learning.
